Web Search
When a visitor asks something your knowledge does not cover, your agent can look it up on the web instead of giving up.
How it works
- The visitor asks a question.
- Your agent checks your knowledge first.
- If your knowledge does not answer it, and web search is available on your account, the agent searches the web and uses what it finds.
Your own knowledge always comes first. Web search is the fallback, so answers about your business still come from your sources.
Free searches and add-ons
- Every account includes 50 free web searches each month.
- You can add more with the Web Search add-on, from Plans in your account settings.

Good to know
- Web search works with OpenAI models. Other models answer from your knowledge only.
- Answers that used the web are not saved for reuse, so they stay current.
- If you want your agent to stay strictly within your own information, keep your knowledge complete so it rarely needs to search.
Tip: Notice questions your agent keeps having to search for? Add them to your knowledge as Text or Q&A so the answer is yours.
